What I Wore To Save a Life

Usually my outfit posts are just that, a post about an outfit.  For today's post I started with a lovely little package, from DKMS, and built an outfit around it. DKMS helps leukemia patients find bone marrow donors.  My husband has been a registered bone marrow donor for years and I have been a bit reluctant because I thought the process would be really painful, yes I'm a complete wuss.
After reading about DKMS in Lucky Magazine and then seeing a post from a friend on Facebook, I did a little more research and found out that I was completely ignorant about the process.  The pain and time is minimal when you consider all the families waiting for their loved one's match, only 4 in 10 find it.  When you think about what we spend our time doing and what really matters, I think taking a couple minutes to have the opportunity to save someone's life with a minor procedure trumps anything you could be doing right now, even reading my blog.  So browse quickly at the photos below and then go to getswabbed.org to have your swabs sent to you.  It takes 30 seconds to swab the inside of your cheek and then send it back to them. No excuses!
My birdie slip dress is from Anthropologie, the sailor top, shoes and clutch are available in my shop and 50% of the sales from those three items willed be donated to DKMS.

I ADORE your skirt! And clutch! And I guess I am ignorant, too, because I did not realize it was as easy as a swab. I am off to check it out!

1. this is my favorite outfit ever.
2. i will consider this now that you've brought my attention to it.
3. i doubt "anthropologie" and "bone marrow donor" have ever been tagged together before. :)

This is my favourite outfit yet! Good on you for becoming a donor. Sometimes I feel guilty because I'm not even allowed to donate blood (not because there is anything freakishly wrong with me as far as I know but because I always seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time... in Germany when Chernobyl happened, in the UK during mad cow disease (even though I'm a vegetarian), anyway the list goes on so apparently my blood could be tainted!). It must feel amazing to know that you could potentially one day save somebodies life.

This outfit is adorable!! -> I registered in the winter for a friends husband who was in need of a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately No match was found but still being in the registry I was recently contacted for being a match for someone with leukemia and I am now going thru the process of getting my blood drawn for confirmation. When I got the package I just started crying because I was overwhelmed and so greatful to be able to give hope to someone and help them with there fight against this terrible disease.

Thank you for your challenge! I am now waiting for my swabs to arrive. I have donated blood before, but never thought about marrow or stem cells. I will spread the word. Well done for encouraging others to help save lives!
